The situation in Syria is evolving rapidly, often outpacing predictions and unfolding in unexpected ways. The Syrian army has resolved to consolidate its defences around four key cities: Homs, Damascus, Tartus, and Latakia. These urban centres are now fortified as the last line of defence, with shock lines established to halt advancing opposition forces and prevent further territorial losses.

Meanwhile, Israel is positioning itself to capitalise on Syria’s fragmentation, summoning additional professional troops to reinforce its 210th division in the occupied Golan Heights. This move underscores Israel’s readiness to seize more Syrian territory as the Levant edges closer to inevitable division.
