By Elijah J. Magnier:
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards have released the first details of the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh. Certain aspects of the incident remain undisclosed by Iran. There is no doubt that there was a breach in the vicinity of Haniyeh’s residence, particularly that the missile penetrated the bedroom where Haniyeh was staying twelve minutes immediately after entering the apartment designated for him. However, Haniyeh was not a security figure, and his movements were not clandestine; they were public, on the assumption that Israel would not violate established boundaries, given the closure of the chapter on the bombing of the Iranian consulate and Iran’s subsequent response. Nevertheless, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu crossed these red lines by opting for reciprocal military reactions.
