Hezbollah escalates war: North Litani Imad-4 rockets on Haifa and Tel Aviv strikes loom

Hezbollah has opened the first section of its underground facilities, dug into the mountains, and launched part of the contents of Imad-4, which houses the first batch of Fadi 1 and 2 missiles fired at Israel. These missiles are designed for reconnaissance, not targeting, and carry 50 kilograms of explosives to a range of 80 to 100 kilometres. They are designed to target military installations deep inside Israel, deliberately avoiding civilian areas – in accordance with the ethics of war, a moral principle of warfare that Israel has not respected in its attacks on Palestine and Lebanon.

The conflict has now entered a new phase, expanding beyond the south of the Litani River to include Hezbollah’s rocket depots north of the river. The battle now extends to Haifa in occupied Palestine. In addition, Hezbollah is preparing a much more powerful and destructive attack, targeting military installations in Tel Aviv in retaliation for Israel’s terrorist attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut. The drums of war are beating, but while the situation remains within acceptable limits for now, it is open to all possibilities.
