From occupation to annexation: Netanyahu and Trump’s Criminal Agenda and Ceasefire in jeopardy.

From his claim that he is the owner of Gaza to declaring that Palestinians have “no right of return, President Trump’s rhetoric and approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict have been characterised by reckless improvisation. With little regard for the complexities of the situation, he has positioned himself as an authoritarian figure, wielding ultimatums to assert control over the region.

In one of his more alarming statements, President Trump issued a stark warning to Hamas: “If all (not only those agreed in the ceasefire deal to be released in multiple phases) prisoners are not freed by noon Saturday, the ceasefire will be revoked, and hell will be unleashed on Hamas.” This ultimatum, delivered without the backing of a coherent strategy or respect for international law, further highlights the disjointed foreign policy pursued by his administration.

This entire episode paints the picture of a leader who operates with authoritarian tendencies, relying on threats and bluster rather than diplomacy and meaningful engagement. Trump’s approach, driven by ignorance and a lack of understanding of the region’s deep-rooted issues, has resulted in policies more designed to bolster his personal image than to promote peace or stability in the region.

A startling and controversial proposal has recently emerged—Trump’s plan to buy and own Gaza, transforming it into a real estate development project, and potentially handing over parts of it to other Middle Eastern states. The US President has explicitly stated that there will be no right of return for Palestinians under his Gaza takeover, a move that blatantly disregards international law and multiple UN Security Council resolutions. This unprecedented geopolitical manoeuvre raises serious legal, diplomatic, and strategic concerns while sparking outrage among Palestinians, who refuse to be treated as a population for sale.
