A war of attrition: Gaza’s struggle against Israeli and P.A. covert strategies

Written by – Elijah J. Magnier:

Amid the escalating conflict in Gaza, Israel, under the leadership of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has intensified its efforts to weaken the Palestinian resistance through various tactics in the absence of a definitive strategy for victory. Israel uses its “Musta’arabim” units, which are skilled at blending in with the local population, to trap the resistance in deadly encounters, such as the operation near the Shifa hospital complex. In addition, Israeli intelligence agents, with the support of the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, are working with Palestinian tribes in Gaza to facilitate a takeover of the territory in line with American interests. While these efforts inflict damage, they fall short of the “total victory” Netanyahu seeks to end the conflict.

More than three weeks ago, teams from the Musta’arabin Unit (also known as the “Dovdovan” Unit or Unit No. 2017) infiltrated the Shifa complex in northern Gaza, acting on intelligence about significant resistance communications in the area, which covers some 42,000 square metres. Disguised among thousands of displaced people seeking refuge in what was perceived as a haven, especially after previous Israeli military actions in the region, the Musta’arabin unit aimed to blend in seamlessly with the civilian population.
