The storming of the Shifa complex in preparation for multiple Israeli plans for the future of Gaza

This is not the first time the Israeli military has invaded the Shifa Medical Complex in northwest Gaza as part of a consistent strategy since the start of the war in October last year. In this operation, Israeli forces entered the Hospital complex, caused significant damage and destruction, and detained scores of civilians. No distinction was made between patients, health workers, media personnel, police officers and the general civilian population. The Israeli army’s reoccupation of Al-Shifa hospital, a clear violation of international norms and the Geneva Convention protecting medical facilities in wartime, coincides with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to prepare the return of the Israeli negotiating team to Doha, Qatar, albeit with limited authority, after long delays. This move comes amid dwindling hopes of stopping the heavy military aggression against Gaza and its civilians.
